SolidWorks CAD sheet metal full assembly model production engineered for laser cut and fold sheet aluminium samples

The brief to develop the Skaftray Tool Holder was born from my clients experience of health and safety breaches on works and building sites where people would place a wooden board on the scaffold safety barrier surrounding them to place their tools on, removing the need to continuously bend down to pick up tools off the scaffolding flooring. This happened notably when working above head height.

As this wooden board method was temporary, there was no surround to the board that would in normal circumstances prevent tools from being knocked over the edge and potentially fall from height on to someone below.
Thus Skaftray was born.
The concept was developed through a series of concept visuals and CAD drawings on both polymer vac-forms and folded sheet metals, investigating the possible connections to the scaffold bars, ease of attachment, weights and other user factors.

Site visits were conducted and end users spoken to in order to determine best methods and added user value as well as looking at standard HSE practices for scaffold working at height. Various lengths were created to fit standard quick-erect type indoor scaffold towers and smaller portable towers.
To compliment the design, a brand identity was created for the product in the form of a logo that reflects the form of the tray with colours chosen to align with the tooling and equipment sector.
